The 411 Normally, on a nice day when you feel like doing brunch in the old port, you would to McGill street and have your pick of a variety of spots. But sometimes you want something a little different, something you may not have tried before. This is where Les Accords on Notre Dame street comes to the rescue.
The 411 Every so often I get asked what’s trending in the world of brunch; what’s new, what’s hot, what should we try? I usually reply with: “you tell me”. I’m always looking for something new that’s good. Over the last year I have been to many new places but only a handful impressed me and few have given me that “falling in love” feeling. You see, people get that feeling with other people, I get it with food. I am constantly searching for that magical place that will be my next number 1 go to brunch spot. I have even gotten burnt with some of my loves. I’ve had places close down, menus change, and some places just stopped doing brunch. I travel other countries and cities often looking for brunch love. I still have a few places back home close to my heart, but I want something new, somewhere were it just feels right, somewhere to fall in love all over again. So is Regine Café that place? Well, if I’m writing about it this way, it must have been a great 1st date.
The 411 On a recent trip to Toronto, Sunday morning came around and after a fun night before where everyone had their share of drinks, the troops were rallied and we headed out to brunch. Isn’t that what brunch is for? To give you enough time to sleep in a little bit while not blowing your entire day and getting some tasty food in your stomach- as well as piecing together the night before.
The 411 Brama is a recent addition to the Brunch scene; a new restaurant in Little Italy whose name means “longing for” or “yearning”. Considering I am always yearning for brunch, I thought it was quite fitting to check it out. Also, it doesn’t hurt that the surrounding area has had some interesting restaurants popping up so the possibility of a foodie adventure is quickly rising.

Mothers day Brunch is around the corner, and if you are reading this you are trying to figure out where to go. Mother’s day brunch is always tricky because you want the perfect spot and sometimes what you think is perfect may not be what your brother and sister may think is perfect. Do you look for a spot with a terrace? Do you do a brunch Buffet? Do you want a kid friendly spot? Or do you want somewhere fancy? The goal of his years Mother’s day review is to give you the tools to choose the perfect spot since we all want to make Mom happy.

The 411 Outremont is an area we are starting to explore again. Finally, after a few years there are some new places opening up. Recently, someone told me about this new place called Les Influences that offered a solid selection at a great price. Most Outremont brunch spots tend to be on Bernard street so finding something on Van Horne is refreshing since it’s kind of tucked away from all the crowds and line-ups.
The 411 Ethnic brunch is often a concept rather difficult to pull off. Many have a choice to make: you can go the classic Montreal breakfast route, disregarding their ethnic tradition; you can try to go full ethnic and put something traditional on the table at the risk of it being closer to lunch than brunch; and sometimes, you strike a balance between the two. Su is a Turkish restaurant that I’ve been to for dinner before and quite enjoyed the meals there. I’ve always gone with at least one Turkish person so they help in navigating the menu and make those hard decisions as to what to order.
The 411On McKay street near Concordia University and the Montreal Museum of Fine Arts you will find Nocochi, a lovely Persian tea shop that I have always enjoyed going to for tea and light snacks. It’s a great spot to go to especially after spending an afternoon at the museum checking out the latest exhibits. So, one morning after trying out a yoga class nearby, we went into Nocochi to try out their brunch..
