Top Alternative Montreal Brunch in 2014

Top Montreal brUNCH (the lunchy kind)

Brunch is a word made up breakfast and lunch, we all know the breakfasty dishes like pancake stacks, waffles, and eggs Benedict but what about rolling out some gravlax, some sweetbreads, or some black codd in the morning? Maybe re-invent brunch and push the boundaries a little more towards the lunch side of brunch. The following restaurants are those that are definitely not your average bacon and eggs spots.

Best Montreal Brunch of 2013

So, 2013 is well behind us and it has been an interesting ride. We saw some places close down, some new ones open up and the big question still remains: where is the best place to have brunch? Brunch for many people is different; some people like the classic eggs and pancakes while others like funky creations that reinvent the wheel when it comes to brunch. Over the years, we have done 280 posts and well over 250 brunch spots in Montreal (we like to travel so we do some outside of Montreal, also) So here we go and keep in mind that if you think we missed a spot let us know by contacting us.

Mother’s day brunch is always tricky because you want the perfect spot and sometimes what you think is perfect may not be what your brother and sister may think is perfect. Do you look for a spot with a terrace? Do you do a brunch Buffet? Do you want a kid friendly spot? Or do you want somewhere fancy? The goal of his years Mother’s day review is to give you the tools to choose the perfect spot since we all want to make Mom happy.

Mother’s Day 2012

Every time that spring comes around we are reminded of two things: 1) change the winter tires, and 2) Mother’s Day is around the corner. So this year we would like to offer you some options for that very special person in your life, your mom.

So Mother’s Day is tricky because, although it is the busiest day for brunch, it can be an exercise in compromise and patience. This is something I have had to deal with as well as I try to find the perfect spot for Mother’s Day. Just like there are different kinds of people, there are different kinds of brunches. You have the small personal brunch of 2 people or more, which is simple enough to not need to find a place that can accommodate a dozen people. You have those whose Mother’s Day outings are like mobilizing a small army, filled with various extended families and that require double digit reservations. You also have differing culinary preferences, with those who want something simple and quiet, or maybe even a shiny polished service, while others want an all-you-can-eat extravaganza.

Best of 2011 Montreal Brunch Review

Happy 2012 to all. With a new year ahead of us we look back on 2011 and take a look at the state of brunch in Montreal. We look at the new spots we discovered, some dishes we remember and we look ahead to see what new discoveries await us. Before we get started, let us take a moment to remember two brunch spots that have left us this year. Sadly, we’ve lost McKiernan and Montée de Lait this year, both of which were on my list of favourite spots and had some really creative dishes that were rarely found elsewhere. Fortunately, we added some new quality places on the list this year but these two favourites will be missed.

Lemeac

Lemeac – Refinement and Style all in one

The 411

lemeac-exterior-smallUp on Laurier, Lemeac is a place that has had some solid chatter among foodies for some time. It’s a French bistro on a part of Montreal that I am in love with; the street and restaurants have an air of refinement and reputation for good food. I have seen Lemeac’s reputation for brunch on various foodie sites and have always been curious about it. How would it be, is it all hype, what will the prices be, will it be worth it? All these questions have been swimming in my head for over a year and this time I decided to take the plunge and explore it. Lemeac had something in store for me.
