Micro Resto La Famille

la famile micro resto exteriorThe 411 One morning we decided to try out Micro Resto La Famille. What is a micro resto you may ask? Well, walk in and you will see it’s an incredibly tiny restaurant with space for 10 people maximum (and that’s being creative). Now, at Montreal Breakfast Review, we have a policy that no matter how large or small or far, we will eat there. (more…)

Miriam

The 411 New York the land of Brunch! Every time we come here the is a brunch discovery awaiting us. This city that never sleeps, that is always moving seems to make the time for a weekend brunch with truly unique dishes and some liquid nutrition. This trip was no different. Last time we spent most of our days in Brooklyn but this time we did an even split between Manhattan and Brooklyn. However, the brunch was all in Brooklyn which has never let me down in terms of food options.

Best Montreal Brunch of 2013

So, 2013 is well behind us and it has been an interesting ride. We saw some places close down, some new ones open up and the big question still remains: where is the best place to have brunch? Brunch for many people is different; some people like the classic eggs and pancakes while others like funky creations that reinvent the wheel when it comes to brunch. Over the years, we have done 280 posts and well over 250 brunch spots in Montreal (we like to travel so we do some outside of Montreal, also) So here we go and keep in mind that if you think we missed a spot let us know by contacting us.

Suwu

suwu exteriorThe 411 The hangover brunch: you know what I’m talking about. Last night was fun, maybe a little too fun… So you wake up in the morning with a headache that would stop a charging rhino dead in its tracks. Since you don’t have one of those miracle IV drips that fix hangovers you have to reply on 2 things can make your hangover go away: one of them is brunch and the other is more alcohol. Yes, the reason we invented bloody maries, caesars and mimosas was for this very moment. To make your weekend brunch extra boozy and help suppress those memories of dancing on the table the night before with a random stranger you spent all night with, Suwu finds its niche. (more…)

Oeuf et Boeuf

oeuf et boeuf montrealThe 411 The East End has traditionally been an issue for me. Brunch places tend to be only your standard eggs and bacon spot; nothing fancy or healthy just the usual spots with menus that don’t inspire. But now, there is a bright light in the East and that beacon comes from Masson street. Here, you will find new brunch spots popping up that aren’t your everyday standard fare. (more…)

New Montreal Brunch additions for a limited time

This year, winter came early and we got snow – cold, heavy, depressing snow. The kind that makes you wake up an hour early to shovel your car or to make you wish you had snow shoes to make it to your bus stop because the sidewalk disappeared.

So, during this season the food Gods have shone on us and offered us two very rare treats. Brunch at Ice house and at Pied de Cochon – two locations that traditionally do not do brunch. Now, both of these are for a limited time so do check them out soon or else it will be too late.

Brasserie Central

centrale westmount interior The 411 Westmount is not known for many places to eat, let alone have brunch. I think one of the main reasons is that there is really a few small sections that are not residential areas. Interestingly, Brasserie Central took over a previous spot we reviewed a while ago so we were familiar with the area. (more…)

Cafe Sardine – Iwashi Izakaya

cafe sardine interior

The 411 Café Sardine is a place I have been to for dinner on a few occasions. I always enjoyed their menu and especially the décor. It has a tapas style dinner menu and some interesting combinations. It was one of those places that I always wondered what brunch would be like there.

Arts Cafe

The 411 Over on Fairmount, you will find Arts Café. It’s been there for years. I’ve passed by it many times without ever having the time to try it out. One evening, I was cornered by 2 friends saying that I never went to brunch with them. I felt guilty and scared for my life a little so we decided to do brunch and one of them had heard about Art Café so I figured it was finally time to give it a try.

Cronut at Dominique Ansel Bakery

Cronuts-n-Drinks-2So, if you have been following some of our posts as well as our Facebook page you would notice that we have a slight obsession with Cronuts and “slight” is quite an understatement. Since the month of May, we have been flirting with the idea of driving down to the NYC on a random weekend, waking up at the crack of dawn, making our way to the Dominique Ansel Bakery and getting a Cronut. I mean, why not? It’s a short 6 hour drive – 7 with traffic and stops. But since my obsession was not there yet, we waited until Labour day for a scheduled NYC weekend and getting a Cronut was top of the list.
