Blanc de Blanc
Over on Villeneuve street, just a little east of Parc, is this little café, or is it a laundromat? Or is it both… Actually Blanc de Blanc is both and a little more. One afternoon after having having spent some time on Mt Royal, we walked over and decided to try it out.
From far, you see seats outside for a nice storefront terrace but inside you find a café, a laundromat on your left and a hidden garden courtyard in the back with places to sit and eat. There’s also some kids toys so you really feel at home here with it’s laid back vibe offering you the option to do your laundry and have brunch… a brilliantly efficient combination in my world.
Food The menu is short and sweet with 4 items with a price of $10.30 for every item and they are tax inc. The items come with a choice of coffee or tea but there is no refill on the coffee. There are also other items available like croissant options, salads and sandwiches, although, they are not exclusive to brunch but anytime. The menu is as follows:
We started with the double croissant ($10.30) which is two croissants, and egg and ham, cheese, lettuce and tomato as a sandwich. This dish was tasty and a fair price. There was fruit on the side and it was enough to satisfy my rugby playing friend after our morning run.
The Croque Matin ($10.30) had avocado and strong cheddar served on two baguette slices and was really impressive as each bite delivered lots of taste. The dish also had fruit on the side and was filling.
Lastly, the omelette ($10.30) came with mushrooms, pepper, onions, tomatoes and cheese. This dish was accompanied with bread and fruit on the sides. I felt this dish was a little bland and was not as good as the other two we had. It was filling but I preferred the others ones more than this one.
Service
You order at the counter and pay when you are done. They are very chill and laid back so you can get comfy there and not be pressured to leave. Our dishes came out quickly and they were nice with menu explanations.
Vegetarian
The menu is rather vegetarian friendly albeit short. The only meat you get is the ham on two dishes and you can simply ask them to hold it.
Wrap up
Blanc de Blanc is a nice chill place. The Laundromat aspect is a little random but hey, it works. I mean if you can do you laundry while having brunch that is the ultimate in efficiency. I loved the courtyard and the fact that the prices are tax included is not expensive at all. The Croque Matin was a stand out dish although the omelette let me down.
