More than Just coffee
The 411
Although known primarily as a great coffee shop that is almost never closed, Toi, Moi & Cafe has an amazing breakfast for a great price. The street itself is much quieter than Mt Royal, yet it still has many shops you can explore once you’re done having a tasty brunch and some amazing coffee.
At 1st glance
The interior is nice and comfortable and upon entering you are welcomed by the wonderful aroma of freshly roasted coffee. The coffee is something that cannot be missed; almost 100 different options available from flavored coffees, fair trade to funky Blue Mountain roasts. The only down side is that you pay per cup and it is not a bottomless cup of coffee.
Food
Now, onto the food. Many of the plates don’t come with normal toast bread but rather with a French baguette(s) (an interesting and welcomed twist). Worth trying are La Parisienne, which consists of poached eggs which you dip into with your baguette and served with fruit and potatoes. For omelets the San Marino and the Salvador Dali are worth trying. Eggs Benedict are a safe bet here; you will find them tasty and filling. The French Toast with nut sauce is unbelievable. This nut sauce plate can also come as a waffle instead of of French Toast. This plate is heaping with ample portions and the sauce is rich and to die for. Another plate worth mentioning is the Waffle, with a choice of fresh fruit or compote; the compote varies from time to time so you will need to ask the staff. One of their signature items is a baked apple stuffed with a fruit jam of sorts; it’s quite different and no one else seems to do this. (more…)
